‘La Vida de Pi’ (2012), de Ang Lee. Crítica de la Película

La Vida de Pi (Life of Pi) es una película dirigida por Ang Lee y protagonizada por Suraj Sharma.

La Vida de Pi es mi película favorita, así que no esperen más que halagos desaforados.

Argumento

Tras un naufragio, un chico se ve abocado a convivir con un tigre de Bengala en un bote salvavidas sin más remedio que llegar a entenderse.

La Película

La Vida de Pi… ¡qué maravilla de peli! La he visto ya unas cuantas veces y ayer no pude resistir la tentación de volver a echarle un ojo y sigue igual de maravillosa. Visualmente prodigiosa y lo que cuenta… original, interesante, místico y profundo. Lo tiene todo para mis cinco estrellas. De lo mejor que he visto.

Comencemos por el argumento. Conocemos a Pi (todo con sentido del humor) y a su familia, dueños de un zoo. Lamentablemente, la situación en la India se vuelve fastidiada y tienen que marcharse. Embarcan a los animales y en una noche de tormenta y en la fosa Mariana, el barco naufraga, sobreviviendo sólo Pi y algunos animales. En este arca comienza un camino de descubrimiento interior que nos llevará hasta el alma de Pi, un tipo extrañamente religioso que encontrará la verdad en los ojos de un tigre de Bengala llamado Richard Parker.

Desde los primeros compases del film adivinamos la maravilla técnica que vamos a ver: efectos especiales sublimes que se acoplan perfectamente con la historia, una fotografía excepcional y un director con una sensibilidad fuera de lo común… y Richard Parker. El tigre se convierte por momentos en el eje central de la historia (hasta el final no descubrimos totalmente su significado) y los planos reservados a este maravilloso animal son prodigiosos (¿se está notando demasiado que me gusta la película?).

La Vida de Pi no es una película para grandes y pequeños ni una obra para toda la familia pero, si te gusta descubrir un cine nuevo y distinto, simplemente te encantará. Eso sí, la he recomendado por doquier y hay gente que no la ‘pilla’ (me parece increíble).

Recomendada. Una maravilla visual. Y Richard Parker inconmensurable.

The Movie

Life of Pi… what a marvelous movie! I have seen it several times and yesterday I couldn´t resist the temptation of watching it again and it is still as great as ever. Visually it is prodigious and what it tells… original, interesting, mystical and profound. It has everything to merit my five stars. One of the best movies I have ever seen.

Let us start with the story. We get to know Pi (with a sense of humor) and his family, who own a zoo. Unfortunately, the situation in India becomes troublesome and they need to leave. They load the animals and in a stormy night in the Marianna Trench, the ship sinks and Pi and some of the animals are the only survivors. In this ark a trip of inner discovery starts that will take us to the soul of Pi, a strangely religious guy who will find the truth in the eyes of a Bengal tiger called Richard Parker.

From the first moments of the film we guess the technical marverl we are about to see: sublime special effects that fit in perfectly with the story, exceptional photography and a director with an exquisite sensitivity… and Richard Parker. The tiger becomes at times the central axis of the story (we don´t discover his total meaning until the end) and the frames reserved for this marvelous animal are prodigious (does it show too much that I like this movie?).

Life of Pi is not a movie for adults and children nor is it a family film, but if you like discovering a new and different type of cinema, you will be enchanted with this movie. I have recommended it to lots of people, and there are people who “don´t get it” (this is hard to believe for me).

Recommended. A visual marvel. And, Richard Parker is sublime.
